Terms of Service
Familiar Tarot ("Familiar", "we", "us") offers AI-assisted tarot readings and a deck marketplace at familiartarot.com. Familiar is operated from Hong Kong.
By using Familiar you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please don’t use the service.
What Familiar is — and isn’t
Familiar generates tarot readings using artificial intelligence. Readings are offered for reflection, insight, and entertainment.
A reading is not professional advice. It is not a substitute for medical, legal, financial, psychological, or any other professional guidance, and you should not make important decisions based on it alone. If you are in crisis or distress, please contact a qualified professional or a local crisis line.
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to hold an account or make a purchase.
Your account
You sign in with a one-time email code or with Google. You are responsible for keeping access to your email and account secure, and for activity that happens under your account.
You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deleting your account removes your conversations and personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.
Membership and billing
A Familiar membership is offered monthly or annually at the prices shown at checkout. Membership renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
You can cancel anytime from your billing settings; your membership stays active until the end of the period you’ve already paid for, and does not renew after that.
Refunds follow our Refund Policy, including a 7-day refund window on a new membership. We may change prices or plans with advance notice; changes never affect a period you’ve already paid for.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card details.
Deck purchases
Some decks are available as one-time purchases ("buy-outs"). A purchase grants your account ongoing access to that deck within Familiar; it is a licence to use the deck here, not ownership of the underlying artwork.
Because deck access unlocks immediately, deck purchases are handled under our Refund Policy.
Acceptable use
When using Familiar, you agree not to:
- abuse, overload, scrape, or attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the service;
- resell, redistribute, or republish decks, readings, or other content except as allowed;
- use Familiar to harass, harm, deceive, or violate the rights of others, or for any unlawful purpose;
- attempt to bypass payment, access controls, or usage limits.
We may suspend or terminate access that violates these terms or puts the service or other people at risk.
Decks you submit
If you submit a deck to Familiar, you confirm you have the right to do so and you grant us permission to review it. Submitting a deck does not guarantee it will be published. The self-serve creator program is not open yet; submissions are an expression of interest.
Intellectual property
Familiar and its software, design, and branding belong to us. Deck artwork belongs to the artists who created it. Your membership or purchase is a personal licence to use that content within Familiar — it does not transfer ownership.
Your questions and conversations belong to you. You grant us the limited permission needed to operate the service (for example, to generate and save your readings), as described in our Privacy Policy.
AI and third parties
Readings are generated with the help of third-party AI providers. The text you send is processed by them to produce a reading. AI output can be inaccurate, inconsistent, or unexpected — treat it as a prompt for reflection, not as fact.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Familiar is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that readings are accurate or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Familiar will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you make based on a reading. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable consumer law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is material, we’ll give you reasonable notice. Continuing to use Familiar after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong, and any dispute will be handled by the courts of Hong Kong, except where mandatory local consumer law gives you other rights.
