Yes or no tarot · The Major Arcana
Death Yes or No
Upright, Death leans no to keeping the old form; reversed, it leans no more firmly while you hold onto what's finished.
Death upright: yes or no
Upright, Death leans no. A skeleton in black armor rides a white horse, carrying a black banner marked with a white rose; a king has fallen, others kneel, and the sun sits low between two distant towers. Something here has already ended. The no applies to keeping the old form going, not to everything after it. It asks you to acknowledge the close, grieve what needs grieving, and make room for what can grow in the cleared ground.
Death reversed: yes or no
Reversed, Death still leans no, and a little more stubbornly. The rider has passed, yet you are still standing where he found you, keeping up habits, roles or ties that no longer have life in them. Saying yes to more of the same mostly lengthens that holding pattern. The card asks you to remember the past with respect without moving back into it, and to take one small step toward the low sun on the horizon.
Death yes or no in love
In love, Death leans no to continuing a relationship in its current form. That can mean a breakup, but often it means an old pattern ending: the way you argue, the role you play, a phase that has run its course. If you are asking whether an ex might return, the card suggests looking at what has truly finished between you. Change, not repair, is the honest theme.
Death yes or no for work and money
For a job, a project or money, Death leans no to keeping things as they are. A role, a business model or a financial habit may have reached its end. That no can be a relief: clearing what no longer works leaves space for something better suited. Ask which part of your working life you are maintaining past its season, and what letting it close might free up.
The question underneath
Which part of this are you still tending after its season is over?
A card can only lean. For a question of your own, draw on it from a real shuffled deck in Claude and talk it through, free.
