The Moon as Feelings
What it means as feelings
As feelings, The Moon upright is longing and mixed signals that are hard to read; reversed, it is the fog lifting as a hidden fear or truth comes into view.
The Moon upright as feelings
Upright, The Moon describes feelings that are real but unclear, sometimes even to the person having them. There can be attraction mixed with worry, affection tinted by old hurts, or a pull toward someone alongside a fear of being misled. In behavior it might look like mixed messages, vague answers, sudden moods, or late-night closeness that turns distant by morning. Imagination fills the gaps, for better and worse. On the card, a dog and a wolf howl at a full moon while a crayfish climbs out of a dark pool, and a pale path winds between two towers. The way forward is visible, but only just, and every shadow looks bigger than it is.
The Moon reversed as feelings
Reversed, The Moon suggests that confusion is starting to clear. A fear that quietly shaped someone's behavior may finally come to the surface and turn out smaller than it seemed. Or a half-hidden truth, a doubt, an old wound, or something left unsaid, begins to be spoken. This can look like a frank conversation after a stretch of mixed signals, an apology, or someone admitting they were unsure of their own heart. It may sting a little to hear. Still, a feeling that has been named is far easier to work with than one moving around in the dark, and the relief of plain speech often follows.
When the feelings are someone else's
Asking how someone feels about you is especially tricky with The Moon, because the card itself speaks of unclear feelings, and no card can see into another person anyway. Take it as a feeling to test against what they do. Notice whether their words and their behavior keep shifting, or whether they are warm in some settings and vague in others. You might also notice how much of your own worry is filling in the gaps. A gentle, direct question often clears more fog than waiting for a sign.
The Moon as your own feelings
Turned toward you, The Moon may be pointing at feelings you cannot quite sort out yet. Perhaps intuition and anxiety are speaking in the same voice, and it is hard to tell which is which. Perhaps an old memory is lending its shape to something new. The card does not ask you to know for certain. It asks you to move carefully, to check what you can, and to be kind to yourself while things stay half-lit.
The question underneath
Which of your worries about this is something you know, and which is something you fear?
A card can only point at a feeling. To sit with one of your own, draw from a real shuffled deck in Claude and talk it through, free.
Asking something plainer? The Moon yes or no.
